Forging; rolling; making shovels and scoops.- Relates to the manufacture of seamless weldless sockets for shovels, scoops, and like tools integral with the blade. The blank is preferably rectangular in shape. The socket portion A is first pressed into the shape shown in Fig. 3, and then pierced with a mandrel B. The socket is then rolled on a suitable mandrel in eccentricallygrooved half rolls to the requisite shape. The blade is formed from the portion A in any suitable manner.
