Zusammenfassung: | 2778. Popper, J. Feb. 8. Nails.-The lid or cover b of a cigar &c. box a is secured by a fine pin or nail d, which is passed through a perforation in an eccentric plate g. The pin may be provided with a head, or a nut, lock pin, &c., for holding the plate down in the position shown in Fig. 1, when the box is fastened. To open the box, the plate g is turned to the position shown in Fig. 2, and used as a lever for extracting the pin d. The top of the plate is roughened to assist in turning, and one edge k is bevelled, so that, after the pin is extracted, the bevelled portion may form a cutting-edge for separating the paper binding and stamps pasted over the ends and front of the box. |
