Zusammenfassung: | 23,158. Topham, C. F. Dec. 18. Spindle apparatus.-Fibres or filaments of cotton, silk, &c., whether prepared in the ordinary way or squirted, are twisted and coiled in the interior of a box M, in the manner represented in the Figure. The filaments are passed together over a guide roller and through a funnel into the interior of the box M, which is rotated rapidly. The box is removably fitted on to its spindle, and is provided with a screwed cover m to facilitate the removal of the coil therefrom. When the box is deep, either it or the arm l carrying the funnel may be reciprocated vertically, in order to coil the filaments in uniform layers within the box. The guide roller may be provided with a two-speed clutch arrangement, so that it may be driven slowly at the beginning of the operation and subsequently at a more rapid rate. |
