Zusammenfassung:14,815. Andres, L. Aug. 18. Stoppers; sealing bottles; refilling, preventing and detecting.-The stoppers of bottles for containing mineral waters &c. are secured by a sealed attachment, which serves to indicate when the bottle has been filled with liquid not emanating from the original manufacturer. In the form shown in Fig. 1, a cord or the like is secured round the neck of the bottle, one end a being passed through a hole c in the stopper and secured to the end of the part around the neck by a lead or other seal d. In opening the bottle, the cord &c. is cut near the seal and the stopper withdrawn, the stopper being still held on the end a of the cord &c. by the seal, which cannot pass through the hole c. Preferably, the cord has two differently-coloured parts a, a , the part a being cut to open the bottle ; or the attachment may be made of two distinct cords of different colours, in which case a second seal d' is preferably employed at the second knot or connection. In the form shown in Fig. 3, a metal wire, band, or ring f is fixed on the neck of the bottle, and the stopper is connected to the part f by yielding links g, or a chain h, &c., and, when necessary, by a string i for carrying the seal or making the attachment which is to be cut or broken. Instead of employing the string, the chain or links may be sealed at g , h to the ring f. The stopper shown in Fig. 4 is fitted with a swivelling stem k, for convenience in attaching the chain, cord, &c., the stem being passed through the stopper and secured by a washer l and nut m.
