Crank and lever linkages.-An electric motor is constructed of one or more pairs of electromagnets a, b, with inclined polar surfaces, between which is arranged a pivoted soft iron armature c, to which an oscillatory movement of small amplitude is imparted by alternately exciting the electromagnets. This oscillatory movement is converted into a rotary movement by means of a two-armed lever c, connected by links to a shorter two-armed lever f, from which the motion is transmitted by a lever h and connecting-rod i to a crank on the shaft to be rotated.
