Zusammenfassung: | 7369. Traunfels, Rudolf, S. Ritter von. April 20. Sleeve joints; spigot-and-socket joints.-Relates to a method or means for joining pipes and tubes, which may be subject to high temperatures, without the use of packing materials such as asbestos. In the sleeve joint shown in Fig. 1, the copper or other metal cones 3 are deposited on the pipes electrically, and afterwards shaped. Nuts 4 engage with the screw-threaded double conical sleeve 5. In a slightly-modified form of joint, a thin uniform layer of copper is deposited on the pipes, and heated sleeves made conical are drawn over the deposited copper, so replacing the one-piece conical sleeve 3. In the spigot-and-socket joint shown in Fig. 3, the conical piece 3 formed on one of the pipe ends engages in an externally threaded socket on the other pipe. |
