New or Improved Means for Damming Torrents

7316. Serrazanetti, G. April 20. Dams ; canals and rivers.-Relates to means for regulating any sudden increase in the volume of water flowing down a torrent. Across a narrow part of the valley there is built a dam or dyke C, of which the upper part is earth and the lower part mixed straw and earth. The lower part is strengthened by means of a block f of stones and gravel enclosed in a casing of iron wire trellis work and iron bars. The water which collects in the reservoir thus formed is allowed to flow away through channels l, g, h, of which the channels opening into the lower part of the reservoir may be closed by covers m. Overflow canals may be provided along the hill-sides, and there may be more than one reservoir.
