An Improved Method of and Apparatus for Utilizing Sea-water in Steam Generators

Sea-water, utilizing, systems of. -To enable sea - water to be used in boilers without becoming unduly concentrated, hot water is withdrawn from the boiler and passed through heatinterchanging apparatus of any suitable character, w h e r e it gives up its heat to cold water drawn from the sea and supplied to the boiler in place of the water withdrawn. In Fig. 3, pumps for withdrawing water from, and supplying fresh water to, the boiler in suitable relative quantities are shown at p, and h is the heat-interchanger. The discharge and supply pipes are fitted with valves q, r, which are automatically operated by a float in the boiler as shown.
