Zusammenfassung: | 12,854. Thompson, W. P., [Foster Engineering Co.]. June 20. Safety-valves.-A relief or back-pressure dishshaped valve 8 is normally held, by a spring 19, against its seat 14 on an annular bronze or other non-corrosive web 3, secured between the two casings 1, 2. The compression of the spring 19 is adjusted by a screw 23, and this compression acts on the valve through a lever 17 pivoted at 18 and having projections 27 engaging the ends of a yoke piece 24 connected to the valve by screws 26. To prevent shocks, a dash-pot 4, carried by arms 5, and in which slides the hollow valve stem 9, is provided. The stem 9 is open at the top ; it has a passage 10 at the bottom, and embraces a post 16 depending from the lever 17. The valve may be held open by a screw 29. The valve has a strengthening-ring 12 and radial ribs 13. |
