Zusammenfassung: | 12,711. Wainford, R. H. June 19. Ingots.-Relates to apparatus for casting metals, and particularly pig-iron, such apparatus comprising a ladle b, Fig. 2, which is run along an inclined line of rails d, parallel to a row of stationary moulds a, and is gradually tilted during its passage to pour out the metal. The moulds are provided with casings m having transverse webs p, Fig. 7, upon which the moulds rest ; the ends of the moulds are held down by plates q bolted to the casings, and the moulds are secured bv means of bolts r. The spaces between the moulds and their casings are filled with non-conducting material, such as asbestos. The mould casings are mounted upon trunnions g, and can be oscillated by means of hand-wheels and toothed gearing, which may be provided with retaining-pawls. A trough e is supported by a carriage, which runs on rails f and is connected to the carriage c of the ladle b. During the operation of filling, the spaces between the moulds are covered by plates h carried by vertically-sliding rods j, which are actuated by levers k connected to the rods and oscillated by means of inclined bars n fixed to the trough e. The Provisional Specification states also that, after the moulds have been filled, metal covers faced with non-conducting material are placed upon them. |
