Zusammenfassung:7476. Lawson, J. W. April 10. Fog and audible signals; indicators and repeaters, signal; signalling to cabins; contacts, electric.- Relates to electrical signalling-apparatus for use on railways, tramways, &c. in foggy weather, or otherwise in addition to the ordinary signals, or when the ordinary signals are out of order. A number of train-actuated bars B, arranged at suitable distances apart, are pivoted close to the rail A, and each bar is connected by a link E to a contact-maker g, which is adapted to complete a circuit through the electric bell M on the signal or other post N, and through a suitable indicator and repeating-bell in the signal cabin. The contactmaker is pivoted to the support F', and forms a race or guide for the heavy roller H. When a train depresses one of the bars B, the corresponding frame g is tilted until the circuit is completed between the lever L on the frame and the fixed contact-plate K'. The circuit is maintained until the roller H, travelling to the opposite end of the frame, tilts the lever L and so breaks the contact. When the train has passed, the frame and bar are returned by the weight I. By operating a switch in the signal cabin, the bell M can be rung to give a starting-signal to the driver. The electrical connections of the apparatus with that in the signal cabin are fully described in the Specification.
