Zusammenfassung: | 7090. Garin, A. P. y. April 4. Copying - presses; cylinder machines with plane printing- surfaces; rotary machines.-Relates more particularly to copying-presses. A wedge - shaped cushion C, filled with air, is placed between the leaves of the copying-book B, so that an equal pressure is exerted all over the surface with the use of moderate pressure. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, clamps or holders A, preferably having hooked ends A for engaging the edges of the covers of the book B, are placed on the hook, and pressure applied by sliding over them a rectangular frame D from the narrow ends A' towards the wider or free ends A . The clamps A may be connected to form a frame, or two boards may be used in place of them. In another arrangement, the book with its cushion C and pressing-boards or frame is placed in a drawer and pressure applied by a cam rotated by the act of closing the drawer. In another arrangement, the book and boards &c. are pushed into a frame having a wedge-shaped space to receive them, by which pressure is applied. Sets of rollers may be provided in the frame to engage the boards &c. placed on the book covers. Fig. 12 shows an arrangement in which a fluid cushion C' is placed between boards P, P', which may be connected by bars Q' hinged to the board P and having hooks Q engaging pins P' on the board P . When the cushion C' is thus placed between the boards it is inflated, and the book B with its cushion C is placed between the board P' and a board I . Extensions of the bars Q are formed with hooks Q adapted to engage the pins I . By moving the bars Q simultaneously on their pivots, by means of the connecting-rods R and handle R', R', the hooks Q' are engaged with the pins I and the hooks Q disengaged from the pins P', permitting the cushion C to press the book. In another arrangement, two cushions, each having a sheath for engaging one of the book covers, are placed between two pressing-boards. An arrangement for printing-presses is described, in which the impression cylinder is provided with an annular sleeve or covering filled with air or other fluid. |
