Zusammenfassung:23,760. Holmes, T., Kitchen, J., and Hargreaves, S. Nov. 11. Spinning, doubling, and twisting machines. - T h e thread is passed from a condenser bobbin &c. through a pair of rolls and vertically downwards through an eye in the guideboard to a combined drawing and twisting apparatus, and thence to the spindles. The drawing and twisting apparatus consists of a pair of rollers carried by a driven tube C, one of the rollers being provided with a changeable pin-wheel c , the teeth of which engage successively with an adjustable spiral spring or worm L on the upper edge of the casting D, which is formed in the shape of a box ; d , c are ball bearings. In another arrangement, the tube C carries a loose wharve or pulley driven by a band and having on its face teeth which gear with a toothed wheel on the axle of one of the rollers. When used for spinning and for doubling two yarns together, the yarns are led independently to the combined twisting and drawing rollers, the one by the usual delivery rollers and the other by an auxiliary guide-eye, the threads being joined together at the eye in the usual guide-board.
