Zusammenfassung: | 23,313. Macdonald, D., and Tassie, W. T. Nov. 5. Cans and canisters; cans, opening.-The bodies A are formed with large beaded rims B, and the lids C are flanged and bent over to form annular channels E fitting over the rims B. A packing- ring of cardboard is placed in the channel E, before forcing on the lid, to make a tight joint. To facilitate opening the can, a screw I is mounted in a nut H soldered to the lid, and is screwed down against a lug G on the body when it is desired to remove the cover. The can may be made of sheet metal, but any material may be used for the body or cover provided the flanges at the edge of the cover are made of some material of a springy or slightly-elastic nature. |
