Zusammenfassung:22,468. Turrell, C. McR., and Veulle, F. H. de. Oct. 25. Motor road vehicles, power, driving-gear for. A series of belt pulleys or chain or spur wheels of different diameter, fixed upon the driving-shaft, gears with a corresponding series of wheels, loose upon the driven shaft. Each of the loose wheels is fitted with a spring detent C, Figs. 1 and 2, rounded at its inner end. The shaft is formed with a corresponding recess A , and may be moved endways so as to bring the detent of the wheel it is desired to connect into the recess. The recess opens out on one side to facilitate engagement; by providing another recess A' of opposite hand, the wheels will drive in either direction. The ends of the detents are hollowed to fit over the shaft. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the detent is mounted in the shaft at the end of a spring arm, and eccentric recesses are formed in the eye of the wheels ; they may be adapted for driving in either direction. Instead of moving the shaft, the key may be moved along a slot therein, by means of a bar passing through its centre.
