Zusammenfassung: | 22,436. Rechter, F. de, and Rechter, G. de. Oct. 25. Feathers.-Feathers &c. are fixed on skins in order to render them suitable for all purposes in furriery. This is effected by treatment with formic aldehyde &c. In Fig. 1 is shown an apparatus for effecting the treatment. The specimens are placed in a chamber C, the bottom I of which consists of a grid. At the base and end of the chamber C is a chamber E, the chambers being in communication with one another through apertures o, o . In the chamber E is a trough G, which is supplied by a pipe U with the formic aldehyde &c., and from the trough depends porous strips of felt N, and the bottom of the chamber E is also covered with a layer of felt V, all of which strips &c. serve as evaporation surfaces. A fan M causes a circulation of the vapour as indicated by the arrows. The chambers are hermetically sealed by lids K, H. |
