Zusammenfassung: | 562. Brooks, J. W., and Vale, S. Jan. 8. Motor road vehicles.-Relates to pedals for motor vehicles. A short tube A, Figs. 1 and 2, screwed or otherwise secured to the crank end, carries in ball bearings within it a pin C the outer end c of which is secured by a nut c in a socket E which encloses the end of the tube A and is formed with projecting arms e secured by nuts g to the plates F. On removing the nuts g, the plates F may be removed and replaced by rubber or other treads. The bearings are adjusted by rotating the screwed cone H and lock-nut H . Dust &c. is excluded by a cap I screwed into the crank and a flange a' formed on the tube A and fitting into the socket E. In a modification, the inner end c of the pedal pin is formed with a fixed cone, the adjustable cone H' being screwed on to the end c . In another modification, suitable for racing purposes, the plates F and arms e' are formed on the pin C, the socket E being dispensed with. Fig. 9 shows a pedal frame having the plates F and socket E, formed by longitudinally slotting a tube, bending round the divided parts of the tube to form the plates F , and securing them to the other end, which forms the socket E. A collar e is secured in the socket E to engage the end of the pin C. |
