Electric railways and tramways with a ' booster' to control the drop of potential in the return circuit are provided with an automatic regulator for the booster. A conductor between the points P , P to be regulated contains an electromagnetic switch Q, N which connects a source of power P to a motor G, and this motor regulates a resistance C in the field circuit of the booster A . S is the main generator.
