Fold-engaging files; damping- device .-In foldengaging files of the kind having flexible clip bars or rods inserted into the folds of the papers and secured in position, the clip bars 7 are formed with grooves 8 at both ends and are sprung into holders 4 provided with upwardly and inwardly projecting flanges 5, the holders also having side flanges 6 forming stops for the clip bars in a lateral direction. The flanges 5 may be parallel to, or converge towards, one another, and may be notched to secure the clip bars in position. The outer clip bar 9 is preferably thicker than the others and has springs 10 which bear against the side flanges 6 to maintain the bars and papers in position.
