The chloride, preferably in a cartridge form comprising a chloride-filled, closed plastics tube, has a grain size distribution such that the proportions of grains with a diameter of less than 1 mm. is more than 80% by weight and with a diameter of less than 0À3 mm. more than 60% by weight. The chloride may have a water content of from 0 to 55% by weight, and may have as additives alkaline reaction compounds, oxidizing agents, sodium chloride and wetting agents.
