Zusammenfassung:	1299233 Measuring web tension AGFA GEVAERT A G 4 Nov 1970 [15 Nov 1969] 52430/70 Heading G1W The tension of a web 1 passing over rollers 3 and 4 is measured by applying a negative pressure in enclosure 5 to cause the web to curve between the rollers. The negative pressure may be kept constant and the curvature of the web measured to determine the tension. Alternatively the negative pressure may be adjusted automatically by means of fan 6 driven by variable speed motor 9 to maintain a constant curvature of the web, the negative pressure then being a measure of the web tension. The curvature of the web may be determined by a scanning device 2 which measures the depth of curvature. Alternatively, rollers 4 and 5 may be provided with small holes so that the angle of wrap of the web around the rollers, which is a function of curvature, may be determined by connecting the interior of the rollers to a negative pressure measuring system. A control circuit may be provided to control the web tension.
