Zusammenfassung:1292564 Inserting terminals in bobbin flanges; shearing AMP Inc 18 Jan 1971 [27 Jan 1970] 2331/71 Headings B3A and B3W Apparatus for assembling a component with a workpiece, e.g. a terminal 2 in a bobbin flange 10, comprises releasable means which move with a reciprocable feed device and hold a component severed from a strip of components during its travel towards the workpiece. A bobbin 4 is placed in a recess in a holder thereby actuating a control valve of a piston-cylinder unit 54. The piston-rod 56 drives a slide 38, Fig. 6, and a block 230, to which is resiliently secured a connecting rod 224. The rod 224 pivots a lever 216 to draw a bar 210 on to the bobbin flange 10. As the slide 38 moves forwardly, a camming block (170) secured thereto, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown), pivots a rod 160, Fig. 6, to straighten a toggle linkage, 138, 140. This action moves a bar 132 downwardly along with a plate 126, on which are mounted a shear member 90 and a block 118. A flange 114 on the member 90 co-operates with shearing edges of blocks 94, 102, to sever the leading terminals from their strips, which have been advanced by the slide 38. The block 118 clamps the severed terminals to the block 94 by means of fingers 124, which are mounted on a shaft 122 and biased by a spring 181. Further movement of the piston-rod 56 drives the terminals into the bobbin flange. On the return stroke of the rod, the fingers 124 are lifted off the terminals by camming surfaces engaging projections in slots 96, Fig. 10 (not shown), on their ends 172, and then the rod 160 actuates the toggle linkage to raise the shear block 90 and the fingers 124. An air jet removes the bobbin from the holder 26 thereby re-setting the actuating switch of the unit 54.
