Zusammenfassung:	1291784 Dihydroxydiphenylsulphone-formaldehyde resins FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER AG 4 Dec 1970 [6 Dec 1969] 57725/70 Heading C3R [Also in Divisions C6 and D1] Condensation products are formed by cocondensation of 4,41 - dihydroxydiphenylsulphone with a di-aryl-ether sulphonic acid and formaldehyde preferably in an acid aqueous medium, in the preferred molar ratio of 1 : 0À20-4; 0À8-4À2 and preferably at 75- 120‹ C. The reaction products can be directly isolated by filtration or the reaction mixtures can be first adjusted to a pH of 3À5-7 by adding aqueous alkali metal hydroxide or NH 3 solution, and then isolating the product by filtration, by evaporating the solution or by spray drying. Formaldehyde, paraformaldehyde or hexamethylenetetramine can be used as the source of HCHO. As di-aryl-ether sulphonic acids the mono- and di-sulphonic acids of diphenyl ethers such as diphenyl-ether, ditolyl-ether and dicresyl ether may be used. Uses.-Tanning and retanning agents; agents for improving the fastness to wet processing of dyeings obtained on synthetic polyamides with anionic and/or cationic dyestuffs.
