Zusammenfassung:129,135. Kahn, E. C. July 16, 1918. Atmospheric vapour burners; vaporizing- apparatus.-The oil-supply pipe 5 communicates through a superheating-pipe 6 with the vertical limb 7 of a nipple 8 having a needle valve 9 which is slotted at 9 to prevent accumulation of oil in the nozzle, since the valve cannot close the nipple completely. The pipe 6 extends over part of the burner and is supported by a stud 12 fitted in the burner casing and detachably secured by a pin 14. The fuel is delivered into the lateral opening of a circular mixing or expansion chamber which is divided into communicating compartments 15, 18, 19 by walls 16; a baffle-plate 20 projects towards the central part of the compartment 15. The compartment 15 is of larger cross-sectional area than its lateral opening or fuel inlet to prevent back-pressure. In the roof 21 of the mixing-chamber are apertures 22, 22 , 23, Fig. 1, for the exit of mixed vapour and air. The outer edge of the roof 21 is flanged as at 24, Fig. 2, to receive a burner cap 25 formed with lugs 27, Fig. 1, symmetrically arranged in relation to a series of corresponding lugs 26 on the flange 24 and spaced therefrom by projections 28. The outer edge of the roof 21 is provided with spaced lugs 29 for spacing the roof from a hood 30, so as to form an annular air passage. The burner is supported by any suitable pedestal 33 engaging a socket 32 on the burner. When it is desired to direct the flame from the burner against the oven of a stove (not shown) suitably curved covers 34 are provided and are hinged to the hood at 35; each cover has a flange 38 to rest upon the hood 30.
