Zusammenfassung:1287372 Alkali metal silicate coatings TSENTRALNY NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKY I PROEKTNO-EXPERIMENTALNY INSTITUT PROMYSHLENNYKH ZDANY I SOORUZHENY and NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT BETONA I ZHELFZOBETONA 12 Nov 1970 53859/70 Heading C3N [Also in Divisions C4-C5] An acid-resistant coating composition comprises (i) a water soluble potassium or sodium silicate glass, (ii) a filler, (iii) a hardening initiator and (iv) at least one of furfural, furfuryl alcohol and the furfural-acetone condensation monomer. The filler may be quartz sand, diabase powder or basalt, and the hardening initiator sodium fluosilicate. An acid-resistant pigment, e.g. TiO 2 , may be included. Preferred amounts are (i) 19-25% by wt., (ii) 37-71%, (iii) 1À5-3% and (iv) 0À2-5%. The composition may be mixed in a mortar or concrete mixer, and used to coat floors or line H 2 SO 4 containers.
