1286958 Weighing apparatus NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 16 Feb 1970 [21 Feb 1969] 9515/69 Heading G1W A conveyer belt weigher comprises a ball-andplate type integrating device responsive jointly to the speed of conveying movement of the conveyer and the degree of vertical movement of the conveyer due to a load thereon to provide an indication of the weight of material conveyed during a chosen time interval. The weigher may comprise a belt 13 supported on a frame 1 which is connected to a column 15 slideable in a stationary sleeve 16 against the bias of a spring 22 and a counterbalance arm 21. The belt 13 which is rotatably mounted on rollers 4, 5 is rotatably driven through a chain and sprocket arrangement 6, 7, 8 from a gear-box 10 driven by an electric motor and a plate or disc 12 is arranged to be rotatably driven in accordance with the speed of rotation of the belt, the disc being mounted so that it is able to move vertically with the frame 1 in accordance with the magnitude of load supported by the conveyer belt. The disc is arranged to move vertically relative to a caged ball arrangement, Fig.2 (not shown), which is in abutment with the disc and is arranged to drive a spindle 34 which may be coupled to a counting device 38. The device 38 is thereby driven at a rate which is proportional to the speed of movement of the conveyer belt 13 and the load thereon.
