Spray carburettors.-In a carburettor for use with alternative fuels, the particular fuel required is selected by rotating a ported tube, the interior of which is open to the atmosphere and forms a preliminary mixing chamber, the rich mixture formed therein being drawn through an exhaust heated vaporizer into the main mixing chamber of the carburettor. The float chamber A has an extension A which is secured to a lug B on the mixing chamber B by a bolt B , and forms the casing of the mixing tube D which is rotatable from a distance through the universal joint D . One fuel is supplied through a passage A and another through A , and opposite these passages are ports D , D in the tube, of different sizes and at different angular positions, by means of which the fuels are selected and controlled. The tube is held in its adjusted position by a spring-pressed ball D . Air enters the tube at D , and the rich mixture, after passing through a vaporizer, enters the main mixing chamber B at B . The air supply to this chamber is controlled, mainly at starting by a valve C , and during normal working by an automatic valve E. A delicate adjustment of the air supply is provided by a bevelled tube G which mav be rotated by a disk G and controls a passage F which bypasses the valve E.
