Zusammenfassung:	1279321 Polymerizing acrylamide IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 12 March 1970 [31 March 1969 15 May 1969] 16617/69 and 24773/69 Heading C3P Acrylamide is polymerized in deoxygenated aqueous solution in the presence of a peroxy compound, a copper salt and sufficient ammonia to give a pH of 8À5-10À5 which forms an amine complex. Ammonium persulphate and copper sulphate or cuprous chloride are used in the examples. There may also be present a more stable copper complex, e.g. with ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid and/or an ammonium salt particularly the sulphate, carbonate or nitrate.
