Zusammenfassung:1,274,719. Mowing devices. SPERRY RANDCORP. 25 Aug., 1969 [26 Aug., 1968], No. 42217/69. Heading A1F A mowing device affixable to a harvesting machine, comprises reciprocable sickle means capable of cutting crop material throughout its length, and drive means connected to each end of the sickle means to cause reciprocation thereof. The sickle means comprises two separate sickle bars 72 and 74 reciprocated in opposite directions by wobble drives 42 and 44, and an extension sickle bar 89 rivetted at 95 to the bar 74 and slidably engaging the bar 72. Knives 78, 82 are rivetted at 86 to knife backs 76, 80 of sickle bars 72, 74 and the end knife 84 on knife back 76 is inverted so as to co-operate by overlapping with knives 82a on the extension 89. Guards 90 provide ledger surfaces co-operating with the knives. and the central guide 98 is cutaway to accommodate the overlapping of the knives 82a and 84. The knives 82 are slightly above the knives 78. Knife hold-down clips 92 are mounted on frame members 18a, 18, shims 94 being used as shown for the knives 82 of the bar 74 and being inserted below the members 18a, 18 (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown) to lower both clips 92 and guards 90 for the knives 78 of the bar 72. An auger cylinder 20 is driven by belt or chain by one of the wobble drive shafts 30 or 32 driven by a power source on the harvesting machine. A reel (not shown) is driven by belt or chain engaging a pulley 28 on the auger cylinder 20. (For Figures see next page)
