Zusammenfassung: | 1,272,864. Making tubes. KIMBERLYCLARK CORP. 30 April, 1969 [3 May, 1968], No. 29507/71. Divided out of 1,272,863. Heading F2P. Tubes suitable for use in hygienic media applicators as described in Specification 1,272,863 are made by a method wherein adhesive coated strip material is helically wound about and advanced along a mandrel and a lubricating medium comprising lycopodium powder is applied to the surface of the strip material which is to contact the mandrel. An apparatus suitable for carrying out the invention comprises a fixed mandrel 62 having a circular cross-section and a reduced diameter portion 62a to enable tubes to be easily removed therefrom; a drive belt 72 driven by motors 76 for winding the strips 26a, 30a about the mandrel; a dispenser 230 comprising a container for the lycopodium powder, the lower portion of the container converging downwardly into a cavity in which a cylindrical wheel is mounted for rotation within the cavity; a plate 246 for guiding the strip material past the lower extremity of the rotating cylinder; means 56 for applying the adhesive comprising a spout 159 to which adhesive is pumped and which includes a slot through which the strip passes and a pair of doctor blades 200 for controlling the thickness of the adhesive coating and a means 54 (Fig. 9, not shown) of maintaining the strip tension constant. |
