Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:1,270,745. Sampling blood. GILFORD INSTRUMENT LABORATORIES Inc. 23 Feb., 1970 [27 Feb., 1969; 15 May, 1969], No. 8646/70. Heading B1X. [Also in Division B8] A length of capillary tube is filled with blood or other fluid sample to be tested by evacuating each tube 26' (Fig. 4) and sealing both its ends, the tube being scored at 44', immersing at least the scored portion of the tube in a quantity 46 of the sample, for example by arranging the tube 26' to pass through a closure member 20' with the major portion of tube 26' in tube 12' and the other upper end of tube 26' protruding into well 40' formed in the closure member for collection of the sample, and breaking the tube at score mark 44' under the surface of the sample liquid 46 so that the liquid is drawn into both parts of the tube. In the embodiment of Fig. 4, the tubes 26' are broken at their score marks by forcing cap 58 downwardly into wall 40', so that frusto-conical interior wall 68 engages the upper ends of tubes 26'. In the embodiment of Fig. 7, knurled cap 80 has a depending peripheral flange 86 which goes outside closure member 18" and a central flat blade 82; cap 80 is applied to member 18" so that blade 82 passes between upper ends 30" of the tubes and the cap is then twisted to break the tubes.
