A cine projector having means for locating in a predetermined position thereon a cartridge of the types disclosed in Specification 1, 261, 525 is provided with a cartridge retaining latch mechanism comprising a latching finger 77 movable on arm 67 to engage and disengage formation 41 on cartridge 11, the arm 67 being shifted by means of a manually controlled camming slider 71 whose cam edges 120, 113 engage surfaces 87, 85 respectively of arm 67. Arm 67 pivots and slides on pin 75 under the tension of spring 83, the pivotal motion to raise finger 77 behind formation 41 only being possible when sensing arm 69 is depressed by a correctly inserted cartridge engaging finger 95. Extension 81 on arm 67 then enters recess 101, and the arm lifts. Movement of slider 71 may operate a projector activating switch 115.
