Zusammenfassung: | 1,261,538. Plate heat exchangers. COVRAD Ltd. 4 Dec., 1969 [11 Dec., 1968], No. 58794/68. Heading F4S. In a heat exchanger constructed from a stack of corrugated metal sheets, the crests 10 and troughs 11 of adjacent sheets are arranged to form between them a side-by-side array'of rows of rectangular section passages for first and second heat exchange fluid media. Adjoining crests and troughs are held together by brazing, soldering or adhesive. A blanking plate 12 seals the ends of each alternate row of passages, elongated apertures 13 being aligned with the ends of the passages in the intermediate rows. A curved end plate 14 is fastened to the ends of the blanking plate 12 to form a transverse passage 15 for distribution or collection of fluid medium from the open-ended passages. The ends of the troughs and crests of the passages having their ends blanked off by the plate 12 are cut back to form a further passage 16 connected to a manifold 17 and through which fluid medium can be distributed (or collected). The fluid passages formed by the corrugated sheets may be of crosssection other than rectangular e.g. honeycomb. |
