N-(PHENYLALKYL)-ACYLAMIDES AND THEIR PREPARATION

[Also in Division C2] Pharmaceutical compositions suitable for parenteral or topical administration as local anaesthetics, contain as active ingredients novel N-(phenylalkyl) amides of the formula I wherein R1 and R2, which may be the same or different, are C 1-3 alkyl; R3, R4, R5, R6 and R7, which may be the same or different are, H, halogen, C 1-3 alkyl or C 1-3 alkoxy; m and n, which may be the same or different, are 0 or 1, at least one of m and n being 0; R8 and R9, which may be the same or different, are H or C 1-3 alkyl; and Am is pyrrolidino, piperidino, morpholino, or mono- or di-(C 1-4 alkyl)- amino or when R8 is H, Am together with R9 form a nitrogen containing heterocyclic ring which may be substituted by C 1-4 alkyl, or therapeutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof, and, if desired, vasoconstrictors such as adrenaline, or noradrenaline, and therapeutically acceptable carriers or diluents. The composition possess local anethetic properties.
