The invention comprises disazo dyes, which are free from sulphonic acid groups, of formula A1-N =N-B1-N = N-K wherein A1 is an aromatic-carbocyclic or -heterocyclic radical and B1 is an aromatic-carbocyclic radical, at least one of A1 and B1 carrying a cyano group in an o-position to the azo group and K is the radical of a coupling component with the proviso that if A1 is derived from 1-amino-2- cyano-4-nitrobenzene or 1-amino-2-cyano-5- chlorobenzene and B1 is free from cyano groups, K is free from ammonium groups or groups. The dyes are prepared by treating a corresponding halogen-substituted dye with a metal cyanide as described in Specification 1,125,683. The dyes may be used to colour hydrophobic fibres, in particular polyester fibres in reddish-blue, blue and violet shades.
