Zusammenfassung: | 124,557. Hutchins, T. W. S. March 22, 1918. Carbon.-Lampblack is prepared by subjecting a film of tar or oil picked up by a rotating disk a or the like from a vessel b to the heat of one.or more electric arcs. The are may be formed between an electrode c and the disk, or a pair of electrodes may be arranged so as to project an arc on to the periphery of the disk; a magnet may be employed to blow the arc on to the disk. The apparatus is enclosed in an air-tight casing f, the gas and lampblack being drawn off through a pipe h by a fan g or the like; the lampblack is separated by a filter i, part of the gas is returned to the casing f, and the excess is drawn off, either continuously or at intervals, through a valve j. |
