A cryogenic liquid, e.g. L.N.G. storage container or a lining therefor comprises a set matrix of cement mortar or concrete containing between 5 and 20% by volume of ferrous reinforcement distributed evenly throughout. An inground cylindrical storage tank may comprise an outer reinforced concrete framework having within it two spaced liners of the abovementioned construction with heat insulating material therebetween. The matrix may be prepared by applying the cement mortar or concrete mix to a plurality of layers of steel mesh by plastering, trowelling or spraying or by mixing randomly oriented steel filaments.
