Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:122,984. Parkes, F. June 1, 1918. D-handles for spades, forks, &c. are formed from a blank or preferably two blanks of sheet metal, the upper ends of the arms a being cupped to receive the grip b, and a strengthening plug or sleeve &c. f being provided at the juncture of the arms. As shown in Figs. 1 and 7, two blanks of the form shown in Fig. 6 are formed with semi-tubular lower parts to fit the wood stem d and with arms a of the form shown in Figs. 1, 5, and 7, the upper ends being cupped at a to embrace the reduced ends of the grip b. When the grip b is of wood, one or more projections a are provided on the cups a to prevent rotation. A plug f of wood or metal or a metal sleeve-piece is fixed by a rivet g to prevent spreading of the arms a, and the socket is fixed to the stem d preferably by two rivets e. A rivet c fixes the grip to the cups a . In the modification shown in Fig. 9, the upper ends of the arms a are flat, and separate cup-shaped caps h enclose them and the ends of the grip b.
