Heading C2C. 2-Halo-5-nitrothiazoles are prepared by diazotizing 2-amino-5-nitrothiazole in the appropriate hydrohalic acid, the reaction being carried out in the absence of catalytically acting additives and in a highly dilute aqueous solution of the hydrohalic acid, preferably a 10-40 weight per cent solution. The diazotization is preferably carried out at from -10 C. to + 10 C. |
