A portable desk for use in motor vehicles comprises a container 2, Fig. 2, which is intended for placing on the front passenger seat and provided with side walls 4, the upper edges of which are inclined such that a removable lid 6, having clips 18, Fig. 7, for attachment to the steering wheel, presents a printing surface which is inclined towards the driver. The lid 6 also constitutes a sheet holder in conjunction with a clip 14 and the container forms a filing box the interior of which is fitted with a fixed partition 10, Fig. 6.
