Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:1,218,808. Electrolyzer. M. A. MELNIKOVEIKHENVALD, G. M. KAMARIAN, A. K. NESTERKIN, V. N. SUCHKOV, V. I. DJUMULEN, A. P. TOMILOV and S. L. VARSHAVSKY. Feb. 19, 1968, No.7958/68. Heading C7B. An electrolyzer for use with a heterogeneous, readily demulsified electrolyte, e.g. in the production of adiponitrile comprises as first electrode a solid block, e. g. of graphite, having a plurality of passageways therethrough in each of which is positioned a counter-electrode, and may include means for passing electrolyte uniformly through the passageways. In the form shown three electrolysers are operated in parallel, each comprising a solid block electrode 14, through passageways in which extend counter-electrodes 16. Electrolyte is supplied via inlet 27 and grid 20, which provides uniform flow through the passageways, and is withdrawn via outlet 28. Within the spaces formed between the counter-electrodes 16 and the walls of the passageways are provided partitions 13, Fig. 3 (not shown) formed with openings and projections to promote turbulent flow of the electrolyte. The block electrodes are also provided with passages, not communicating with the passageways, for passage of a thermostatic fluid. Electric current is supplied to the electrodes via common bus-bars 26. The electrolysers may form part of a closed system including a phase-splitter for separating out gases produced during electrolysis, a heat-exchanger and a pumping unit.
