ENDLESS TAPE CARTRIDGE

The endless tape cartridge of Specification 1,165,988, intended for use with a reel-to-reel cassette tape recorder, is modified in that the drivable hub 26 and associated pressure roller 27 are movably mounted to facilitate loading to the tape recorder. The hub 26 is journalled via a PTFE sleeve on a stub upstanding from a plate 28 which is loosely journalled in the cassette and which itself carries an integral or other arm 36 supporting the roller 27, and biased inherently and/or by a spring toward the hub. The assembly is located in a well 39 limiting movement. Although the hub 26 is driven for transducing and fast forward transport, no rewind is possible since the reel 22 has a smooth bore and the spindle engaging hub 26 is not driven in the rewind mode, and only one capstan opening 44 is provided to prevent the cassette being inverted. The guide roller 42 is tapered towards its base to re-orient the tape 23 after leaving the reel 22.
