An assembly 1, of withdrawal rolls 4, 5 in a framework 3, is mounted on rollers 9 (those at the front being staggered with respect to those at back) so that it can be moved on rails 12 to the side of the path of the cast strand 6, for repair, by an hydraulic cylinder 13 mounted a plate 2 which supports the withdrawal assembly 1, when it is in the working position shown, with the rollers 9 suspended in recesses 10 in the support plate 2. Sloping sides 11 of the recesses 10 raise the rollers 9 on to the rails 12 when a cotter (19) is inserted in a groove 18 in the framework 3 and a groove 17 in an arm 16 on the piston 14 of the cylinder 13 and the cylinder is operated. With the cotter (19) removed the cylinder 13 is used for side-shifting of a dummy bar (for its detachment) by a roller 15 mounted on the opposite end of the piston-rod 14 to the arm 16.
