[Also in Divisions C1 and F3] Fibrous grains of nitrocellulose are interlocked under pressure to form a cohesive body 1, by dry compacting the grains under a pressure of 3,500 p.s.i. to 75,000 p.s.i. without the addition of a binder, plasticizer and/or solvent. The body is formed with a cavity 5 in which a priming composition 4 is deposited from an aqueous suspension. The grains of nitrocellulose can be dry blended with ignition and combustion modifiers such as graphite, potassium nitrate, potassium dichromate, potassium sulphate, lead chromate, strontium peroxide, barium peroxide, nitroguanidine, aminotetrazole, PETN, TNT, RDX, red phosphorus, nitroaminoguanidine and nitrostarch.
