A glass consists essentially of in weight per cent: SiO 2 : 40-63À5; Al 2 O 3 : 5À0-15À0; CaO: 21-35; MgO: 0À1-3À5; Na 2 O: 5À1-8À0; MnO: 0À1-1À5; Fe 2 O 3 : 1À1-1À5; ZnO: 0À5- 1-49; F: 3À8-6À5; sulphide sulphur: 0À2-0À8. Minor quantities of titanium oxide of up to 0À3% may also be present. A crystalline glass material of the same composition as the said glass may be prepared by heterogeneous crystallization of the glass. The material may have various light colours such as white, light grey, light blue or light yellow depending upon the particular combination of oxides.
