An ion-exchanger type electro-dialyzer for the demineralization and concentration of electrolyte solutions comprises series-connected working chambers built up by a pack of alternating ionexchange membranes 11 (each provided with at least two slot-shaped through passages 20 and 21 disposed at right angles) and flat closed frames 10 (each provided with at least one slot-shaped through passage 22 and two slot-shaped feed apertures 23 and 24), wherein each working chamber communicates with the frame feed apertures via connecting grooves 25 and 26 arranged so that respective grooves of each aperture on the same frame are formed in opposite faces of the frame, one membrane passage 20 or 21 coinciding with the frame passage 22 and the other passage of the same membrane coinciding with the frame feed aperture 23 or 24 whose connecting grooves are formed in the opposite face of the frame in relation to the membrane. Each working chamber (as well as each electrode chamber 5, 6 and buffer compartment 7, 8 - see Fig.1) may incorporate a corrugated, perforated screen (12) of polymeric material to avoid polarization of the membranes.
