Exposed photographic silver halide materials containing in a layer thereof an addition product of an alkyl or dialkyl phenol and glycidol wherein each alkyl group contains 1-18C are processed in a continuous transport processing machine and reduce foaming compared with that given by saponin. The addition product may be in an emulsion layer or a layer contiguous therewith or a backing layer. The addition product may be in conjunction with an anionic surfactant e.g. alkyl aryloxy-alkylene ether sulphonates, maleopimarates, or alkylsulphates or amphoteric surfactants e.g. N-alkyl - /3-amino propionates or N-aryl-N-alkyl taurines. The photographic material may contain a silver halide developer, a hardener, a pigment, colour couplers, sensitizing dyes chemical sensitizers and fluorescent brighteners.
