Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:1,198,012. Alkenyl substituted benzoates. CESKOSLOVENSKA AKADAMIE VED. 12 June, 1968 [15 June, 1967], No. 27861/68. Heading C2C. The invention comprises compounds of the Formula I wherein R designates an aliphatic group possessing from 5 to 10 carbon atoms and R1 represents an aliphatic C 1-5 group, a cyclic alkyl C 3-6 group or an aliphatic-aromatic C 7-10 group. They are prepared by converting a p 1 -halobenzyl alcohol to the corresponding aromatic lithium derivative by the action of a compound of the formula R2Li where R2 designates an aliphatic C 2-6 group, coupling the lithium derivative with a ketone of the general formula R3.CO.R4, where R3 designates an aliphatic C 2-5 group or an alicyclic C 3-6 group and R4 represents an alkyl C 1-3 group to form a tertiary alcohol of the general formula wherein R3 and R4 are as defined above, oxidizing the primary alcohol group, esterifying the resulting acid by known procedures described in the literature and eliminating the elements of water from the tertiary alcohol group of the resulting ester. p 1 - (1,5 - Dimethyl - 1 - ol - 5 - hexenyl) benzyl alcohol is prepared by reacting the p 11 -lithium derivative of benzyl alcohol with 6-methyl-6- hepten-2-one. P 1 - (1,5 - Dimethyl - 1 - ol - 5 - hexenyl) benzoic acid is prepared by oxidizing the corresponding alcohol with chromic oxide. Methyl ester of above acid is prepared by esterification with diazomethane. The compounds of Formula I are insecticides of the juvenile hormone type.
