Zusammenfassung: | 1,197,965. Manufacturing moulded articles from sawdust. COUNCIL OF SCIENTIFIC & INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH. 22 Nov., 1968 [24 Nov., 1967], No. 53491/67. Heading C3N. A method of manufacturing moulded articles such as hard board or particle board, from wood sawdust and without using a conventional binding material, comprises reducing the sawdust to a size that will pass 14 mesh and collect on 100 mesh (B.S.S.), intimately mixing the sawdust with water, preferably containing a dehydrating agent, the amount of water being from 10 to 20% by weight of the sawdust, and then moulding the mixture in a single stage operation at 110‹ to 160‹ C. Œ 5‹ C. and 40 to 80 kg. per square centimetre for from 20 to 50 minutes. The dehydrating agent may be sulphuric or phosphoric acid. The initial moisture present in the sawdust is taken into account in the above-mentioned amount of water. |
