Zusammenfassung: | 1,195,255. Photographic dye imbibition blank. EASTMAN KODAK CO. July 27, 1967 [July 27, 1966], No.34549/67. Heading G2C. A photographic dye imbibition blank comprises a support carrying a hydrophilic colloid layer containing a basic mordant and in at least the outer stratum of the layer a diffusion inhibiting compound consisting of a sulphonated or sulphated derivative of a monomeric carboxylic ester or of a monomeric carboxylic acid amide, said ester or amide containing both a ballasting substituent and at least one unesterified acid group. The monomeric ester may be derived from a polycarboxylic acid containing 4-6 C atoms and an alcohol containing 5-30 C atoms, or from a polyol containing 2-4 hydroxyl group and a carboxylic acid having a chain containing 5-30 C atoms. The amide may be prepared from a monomeric polycarboxylic acid amide prepared from a carboxylic acid having 4-6 C atoms, and having a free acid group and as a ballasting group an N-alkyl or N-alkenyl substituent of 5-30 C atoms. The layer may also contain a salt of an acid substituted, alkyl or aryl substituted polyalkoxy ether, many of which are specified some having the general formula R-(B) m -(O-CH 2 -CH 2 ) n -OCH 2 -CH 2 -X where R is H, alkyl or alkoxy, n is 1-100, m is 0 or 1, B is aryl, and X is a carboxylate, sulphonate or sulphate salt. The inhibitors may be applied to the mordanted blank as 0À5-1À5% solns. or dispersions at pH 4-5, which may also contain the polyalkoxy ether and a conventional non-ionic wetting agent. The dyed matrix may be treated with dil. acid e.g. CH 3 COOH, H 2 SO4 or sulphamic acid, before contacting with the inbibition blank. The usual colloids may be used and the mordanted layer may be coated over a silver halide emulsion. |
